After growing up in Texas, I am happy to call Colorado home for the past 30+ years. I graduated from the University of Denver, Graduate School of Social Work in 1993 after interning in an elementary school in Boulder my first year and then at the Denver Veterans Administration my second.

I cut my teeth at Adams County Department of Social Services on an incest treatment team doing play therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, in addition to testifying in court as an expert witness in child sexual abuse. I then spent twenty years at Kaiser Permanente in outpatient mental health treating kids to geriatrics, running DBT groups, teaching parenting classes, and then most recently as the in-house behavioral health provider for Colorado Permanente Medical Group. I provided individual counseling to the physicians and administrative staff and built out a robust physician burnout/wellness program. I’ve also served as faculty with the Center for Professional Education for Professions teaching physician-patient and physician-staff communication courses.

I recently completed a year long fellowship in psychedelic assisted therapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute focusing on the use of ketamine, psilocybin, and MDMA. I completed additional training on MDMA assisted therapy through MAPS.

I am a lifelong athlete. I started out as a runner and ran the 800m for Baylor University. I fell in love with cycling about 25 years ago and have competed in most all disciplines of cycling earning seven national championship titles over the years. With the pandemic shutting down most racing in 2020, I turned to bikepacking.

I am also a parent of two young adults, a spouse, and a lover of animals, cooking, sewing, and gardening. Friends describe me as open-hearted, warm and empathic with a great love of life.

About my practice

I am in the office Monday through Thursday, 9-5pm. I do not have evening or weekend availability at this point.

Over the years, I have taken insurance because I know paying for therapy out of pocket is expensive, and if you have insurance, you should be able to use it for therapy. That said, insurance companies aren’t always the easiest to work with. I am currently only accepting insurance clients who have Kaiser Permanente insurance.

Individual and family sessions last 50 minutes and cost $175 per session. I do have some reduced fee slots for clients in need. I accept payment in cash, check, and credit cards including HSA debit cards. Click below to read about my services and specialties.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Per Colorado law, if you are paying privately for psychotherapy, you are entitled to a good faith estimate of your potential costs. I am happy to provide this upon request.
